Delicious, sweet, high quality yellow watermelon. It’s like a yellow version of a Crimson Sweet, looking similar on the outside; just as good as Crimson Sweet too, though a little earlier maturing. This variety was developed at Auburn University in Alabama and released in 1993, just before seedless started taking over. Read more here. The melons are round, 12-15 pounds, and have small black seeds. They keep well. Good resistance to downy mildew, fusarium and anthracnose (races 1 and 2). Not commercially available elsewhere as far as we know. We got seed from the USDA seed bank. A bear got into our seed crop this year – otherwise we’d have bigger sizes available. 22 seeds/gram.
