Purple Top Turnip

Yes this is the regular Purple Top Turnip – we’re working with it because we think its an outstanding and useful variety! We have started on an effort to refine the selection for overwintering here in Virginia at Twin Oaks Seed Farm. We’ve saved seeds from roots grown over two winters now, selecting for cold hardiness and quality (no splitting). We find this to be an extremely useful and productive vegetable, and this variety does especially well here for our needs. Its easy and very fast to grow, useful for both greens and roots, sweet as long as its not hot out, good cooked, and good raw.
