AU Jubilant Watermelon (Certified Organic)

Grown by Twin Oaks Seed Farm (VA) – 90 days – Citrullus lanatus

Bred at Auburn University in Georgia and released in 1986, AU Jubilant is a disease resistant version of Jubilee. Melons are large, typically 15-20 pounds, with bright red flesh, good sweet flavor and large (though not plentiful) black seeds. They have a pronounced oblong shape, that we like because it allows for better keeping once you start cutting the melon. Resistances include downy mildew, anthracnose, and fusarium (it was also bred for gummy stem blight resistance but further research indicates that wasn’t successful). We got seed from the USDA (PI 601062); the variety is otherwise unavailable commercially as far as we know. We have a limited quantity of seed this year so are just offering a small packet size. We’re planning a bigger growout for next year. 10 seeds/gram.
