Archived Updates

November 11th, 2023: We’re busy cleaning seeds, checking inventory, doing germination tests and updating our listings. We’re excited to be offering a handful of new varieties this winter! This includes several that we bred: Mira Red-Stem Kale, Easter in August Cherry Tomato, and Solar Flare Sweet Pepper. We’re also bringing in several existing varieties that we identified as standouts in our trials: Sierra Lettuce, Marona Green Bush Bean, Bradlety Tomato and a few others. August 29th, 2023: We’re very busy growing seed crops, and evaluating our variety and breeding trials. We’re doing extensive summer squash variety trials this year, and also continuing with winter squash breeding projects (with help from a new Producer SARE grant). Other trials include cantaloupe melons, summer lettuce, and tomatoes.

February 7th, 2023: Our winter newsletter is out! Lots of information and pictures about our work from the 2022 growing season, as well as introductions of new varieties. Sign up for our email list here to recieve future newsletters.

September 2nd, 2022 Update. We’re now well into harvest season – Sweet Bullnose peppers, Tramunt sweet corn, and Yellow Moon and Stars watermelon are some of the seed crops we’ve been harvesting in the last week at Twin Oaks Seed Farm! We’re especially excited about our first real seed production crops of South Wind Slicer and Common Wealth Pickler – both were planted the second week of July and are now at the eating stage and holding up great to the downy mildew pressure thats common here in August and September.
