Atrar Rainy Season Cucumber (PI 605996) (Certified Organic)

$4.50

Grown by Twin Oaks Seed Farm (VA) – Cucumis sativus – 60 days

We first took notice of this unusual variety in Twin Oaks Seed Farm’s 2014 cucumber trial, where it showed very good downy mildew resistance and productivity. Very good eating – they’re crunchy and pleasantly sweet with a lemony flavor. These cucumbers have a strikingly different look to them – they are mostly green, but with light yellow and dark brown striping. We obtained seedstock from the USDA’s North Central Regional Plant Introduction Station in Ames, Iowa, via the GRIN network. It was collected by the USDA in 1992 from a farm run by Mathura P. Khushwah near the village of Atrar in Chhattarpur District, Madhya Pradesh, India. The GRIN database says it is grown during the rainy season. Grew very well at Twin Oaks Seed Farm in 2022, with plants staying healthy until frost from a late May planting. 30 seeds/gram.
