Yellow Moon and Stars Watermelon (Certified Organic)

Grown by Twin Oaks Seed Farm  – 90 days – Citrullus lanatus

These watermelons are like large, magical dinosaur eggs. The 15-25 pound oblong fruits are covered with stars and some moons, overlaid on a faint netting. Inside color ranges from lighter yellow to bright orange – the flesh is sweet and delicious, with a light apricot flavor. Yellow Moon and Stars is an heirloom from Georgia that also has roots in the Caribbean. We first got seed from Southern Exposure Seed Exchange. We have now grown and selected it at least half a dozen times at Twin Oaks Seed Farm, and it’s one of our favorite varieties. The plants have good downy mildew resistance, better than the red moon and stars varieties, which have more northern origins. 8 seeds/gram.
