Grown by Twin Oaks Seed Farm (VA) – 90 days – Phaseolus lunatus

Beautiful, productive, and tasty pole limas. Harvest the dry pods once a week or so from mid-August through late October, and eat year round – they have a rich and hearty flavor. The beans don’t tend to fall prey to mold, so they need little or no sorting once winnowed. Saved by four generations of Violet Brady Westbrook’s family in Banks County, Georgia. Introduced by Southern Exposure Seed Exchange in 2009. We’ve grown these at least six times in Central Virginia, and were always impressed that they still set pods in hot weather when other varieties didn’t. However, in the very hot, dry summer of 2024 they didn’t set well. 61 seeds/oz.
