Mini Paulista Summer Squash (Certified Organic)

Grown by Twin Oaks Seed Farm (VA) – Cucurbita moschata – 70 days

In 2023 we started exploring moschata-species summer squash because they’re naturally vine borer resistant. Mini Paulista has been a favorite variety in trials at both Twin Oaks Seed Farm and Care of the Earth Community Farm. It has a great combination of disease and insect tolerance, rich flavor, and short-vined growth habit (though the plants can grow to be sizeable over time). Fruit set is not concentrated or early, but yield over time is good, and the plants will keep bearing for months, till the frost gets them. We’re not sure how they’re used in Brazil, but we think they really stand out as summer squash. Attractive green and white striped coloration and butternut shape. Fruits should be picked at six inches or less. 11 seeds/gram.
